The Kewanee Police Department issued four citations during its recent Memorial Day ‘Click It or Ticket’ enforcement initiative. The operation, which lasted for four hours, focused on seatbelt compliance and aimed to enhance roadway safety during the holiday weekend. Supported by federal highway safety funds distributed through the Illinois Department of Transportation, the campaign aligns with a statewide effort to remind motorists of the importance of buckling up. Authorities stress that wearing a seat belt remains one of the most effective ways to prevent serious injury or death in a crash and encourage continued vigilance from drivers and passengers alike.
