Kewanee Police Make Search for Missing Kewanee Resident Catrelle Reed A Priority

SHARE NOW

Authorities continue the urgent search for Catrelle Reed, whose disappearance remains the top priority for the Kewanee Police Department. The vehicle Catrelle Reed was last known to drive was discovered parked in an alley near his residence by a “concerned resident” before Reed was reported missing. Forensic teams processed the vehicle after Catrelle Reed was reported missing. Surveillance footage and license plate readers confirm the car was seen driving on May 23, 2025, between 7 and 8 AM, but further details about Reed’s whereabouts are still unknown. Investigators from the Illinois State Police and Henry County Sheriff’s Office are assisting, and leads continue to be developed. Anyone with credible information is urged to contact law enforcement as the investigation remains highly active.

The Kewanee Police said in a Facebook post, “Investigators have continued to pursue leads and examine available information. While we have developed several avenues of interest, there is currently no concrete evidence pointing to Catrelle’s exact location or what may have happened to him. The case remains very active, and additional investigative steps are currently underway.”

“We remain committed to bringing resolution to this case and appreciate the support and assistance of Catrelle’s family and our community.”

Law enforcement emphasizes that random searching at this stage can inadvertently divert detectives from crucial investigative work. After consulting with search and rescue experts, the Illinois State Police, and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, officials stress that without credible leads, large-scale community searches are not effective. If actionable information emerges about a specific location, officials say every available law enforcement and specialized volunteer resource will be swiftly deployed. The public is encouraged to await further guidance to avoid disrupting investigative efforts.

“To be fully transparent, composing this update for the community required stepping away from reviewing surveillance footage tied to this investigation. Additionally, detectives and staff have also had to step away from active casework to respond to calls from individuals upset about perceived inaction, taking valuable time away from critical investigative tasks. We hope this helps explain how valuable our time and focus are in this phase of the investigation. Your patience and understanding allow us to concentrate on the work that has the highest chance of leading to answers.”

Authorities are encouraging community members eager to assist in the ongoing search efforts to do so with utmost caution and respect for the law. Searchers are urged to remain vigilant, avoid entering private property without proper permission, and always stay aware of their surroundings. Anyone who locates items that could be linked to the case or who possesses credible information that may be helpful to the investigation is asked to reach out directly to the Kewanee Police Department or their local law enforcement agency. Officials express gratitude for the public’s support and emphasize the importance of safety during these efforts.
