Last week, Telecommunicator BreAnne Bryner and Sergeant Andrew Kingdon attended classes to obtain National Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST) certifications. BreAnne Bryner and Sergeant Kingdon are certified to educate people with the installation of rear-facing car seats, forward-facing car seats, and booster seats based on manufacturer and vehicle requirements. A CPST inspection of child car seats significantly reduces crash-related injuries and fatalities for children. Approximately 74% of all car seats are installed or used incorrectly. If you are expecting a baby, upgrading to a new car seat, purchasing a new vehicle, installing a car seat to babysit, unsure of height or weight requirements, or want to feel secure in the installation of a car seat or check for recalls, the Kewanee Police Department can help.
