The Kewanee Police Department is seeking public assistance in locating Scott Petty, who is suspected of a violent incident on December 31, 2024. The Kewanee Police responded to an attempted stabbing at a residence in the 100 block of Payson Street around noon on December 31st. Officers arrived to find four people outside the residence; two of them had non-life-threatening injuries. One female had small scratches and a minor puncture wound to the back of her neck, and a second individual had a small cut on his hand. Officers entered the residence and found a male, later identified as Scott Petty, 36, of Kewanee, sitting on the kitchen floor with a puncture wound to his right side.

The preliminary information indicated that Scott Petty had attacked his girlfriend with a knife, and a male subject intervened to protect the girlfriend from being stabbed, which resulted in the male subject’s and Scott Petty’s injuries.

Scott Petty was transported to OSF St. Luke Medical Center in Kewanee and later transferred to OSF St. Francis in Peoria. An arrest warrant was secured for Scott Petty, but he fled from OSF St. Francis Medical Center before officers executed the arrest warrant. The Kewanee Police are actively attempting to locate Petty.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or the whereabouts of Scott Petty is asked to contact the Kewanee Police Department at 309-853-1911.
