According to the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce, retail sales figures for Kewanee show robust growth in the second quarter of 2025, with an impressive 11.2% increase over the same period last year. Notably, apparel sales soared by 60%, and drug/small retail jumped 70%, possibly influenced by new accounting methods in Illinois but confirmed by strong local business performance. General Merchandise rose 2.9%, Food 7.8%, and Lumber/Building Supplies 13.4%. For the first half of 2025, Kewanee sales reached $147 million, up from $129 million in 2024. With U.S. inflation at 2.9%, Kewanee is on pace for another record-breaking year.
“Things are looking good in Kewanee. Hopefully, we can keep this going and have 2025 be another record breaking year,” said Mark Mikanis in a press release.
