Kewanee Varsity and JV Soccer fell short at their first game of the season on Wednesday, August 28th, against Peoria Christian. Coach Bermudez said the JV team played very well and is “full of new players that are in love with the sport.” The final score was Kewanee 0 and Peoria Christian 2. The JV team attempted five goals. Gustavo Bermudez had seven saves and stopped a penalty kick. The Varsity team didn’t have a good first half; they were losing 6 to 0. According to Coach Bermudez, coaches talked with the team at the first half break and “corrected some mistakes.” Peoria Christian scored one goal in the second half and won with a 7-0 score. The team attempted three goals, and Dillon Price had 18 saves.
