On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, the City of Kewanee will be working on a water main in the 1000 block of East 10th Street. The work will include a repair and installation of the water main to address an active leak and previous repairs to ensure compliance with ILEPA regulations regarding water main installation and repair. Water will be turned off for some residents in the area beginning at 8 AM, with work expected to take six hours. The City of Kewanee Water Division delivered letters to the residences on Friday that will be affected by the temporary water interruption. Once water service is restored, there will be a boil order for the residences that were without water.
The work will affect the right-of-way on the southern side of E. 10th Street between May and Kent Streets, slightly encroaching into yards. The City of Kewanee said the affected years will be restored to their original state, including seeding and tilling once the ground settles and weather permits. “We appreciate your patience and understanding during this construction period and apologize for any inconvenience caused. Our team is committed to completing the work as efficiently and safely as possible.”
