A Kewanee woman accepted a plea deal on January 4, 2024, for probation for the single count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (Class 2 Felony) where she was more than five years older than the victim.  Kassidee A. Swan, 22, received 24 months probation, 90 days in the Henry County Jail (stayed pending compliance of plea), credit for seven days served, must register as a Sex Offender, have no contact with the victim, plus fines and assessments.  The bond posted for her release covers all fines and assessments.

The Kewanee Police Department received a complaint that the defendant and a 15-year-old male were in a sexual relationship.  The minor disclosed the relationship during an interview with the Children’s Advocacy Center and said the defendant knew his age.  The minor’s father confirmed the relationship after catching them together in his home in Kewanee.  The victim’s guardians agree with the plea according to the State.  Judge Colby Hathaway told Kassidee Swan that this was a lenient sentence given the severity of the charges and that she was getting a second chance.
