The KHS Speech Team has made waves at the regional competition, securing an impressive 5th place overall. Leading the charge were several standout performances, with Marcos Torres advancing to sectionals after clinching 4th in Oratorical Declamation. Nolie Charlet also earned a sectional spot with a 3rd place finish in Poetry Reading, while Summer Simmons qualified in two events: 4th in Prose Reading and 3rd in Special Occasion Speaking. Kira Alsup’s 4th place in Informative Speaking and the dynamic duo of Trivian Massens and Shawn Roller, who took 4th in Humorous Duet Acting, also advanced. The team’s depth was further highlighted by Marcus Guzman’s dual 5th place finishes in Extemporaneous Speaking and Original Oratory, along with Trivian Massens’ 5th in Humorous Interpretation. Andrea Hernandez rounded out the team’s efforts with an 8th place in Impromptu Speaking. The sectional competition awaits next week—best of luck to the advancing competitors!
