Kids and Parents Anxiously Awaited the Opening of the Splash Pad in Liberty Park in Kewanee

Families in Kewanee now have a new way to cool off, with the official opening of a splash pad at Liberty Park. The project was made possible by a $600,000 Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant from the state, bringing together support from city and community leaders. Designed for all ages, the splash pad features a simple push-button activation system and does not require on-site staff, ensuring easy access for everyone. The addition is expected to be a popular destination during the warmer months, offering a safe and refreshing environment for Kewanee residents and visitors alike.

Kids braved the cold temperatures to enjoy the new splash pad at its grand opening on July 17, 2025. The splash pad will be open from 10 AM to 8 PM daily.
