Authorities in Knox County apprehended three suspects wanted for alleged counterfeit currency offenses after a high-speed chase on January 9, 2026. The incident began when Monmouth Police attempted a traffic stop, prompting the vehicle to flee eastbound on Interstate 34. Knox County deputies observed the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to stop. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office ultimately deployed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver near Galva to stop the vehicle. The occupants attempted to escape on foot, but two were quickly detained, with assistance from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and Galva Police, leading to the third arrest. The suspects, believed to be linked to multiple fraudulent activities statewide, are currently in custody pending further investigation.

“All three subjects were taken into custody without further incident and are being transported by deputies with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office to the Monmouth Police Department for further processing.”

“The Knox County Sheriff’s Office extends its sincere thanks to all assisting agencies for their coordination and efforts, which resulted in the safe apprehension of the involved subjects.”

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
