MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois Regional Council (WIRC) announced that $8,000 was raised and donated to their Project Santa program thanks to a fundraiser hosted by members of LaMoine Valley, a local charity group, on November 27th at Slup’s Bar & Grill in Blandinsville.
WIRC Project Santa Coordinator Jamie Roth says the generous donation will help the agency to purchase much-needed items like gifts and clothing for children who would otherwise go without during the holidays. “Project Santa is a community effort that relies on donations like this from generous groups and individuals in western Illinois,” said Roth. “We are absolutely thrilled with the donation, and want to thank LaMoine Valley and all of the sponsors and donors at the fundraiser for their continued support of our Project Santa program. You put a lot of smiles on the faces of children and their parents.”
The social service program provides gifts, food and clothing to children of income-eligible families in need who live in Hancock, Henderson, McDonough and Warren counties in Illinois.
WIRC helps people and communities in western Illinois. Enrollment for Project Santa has closed, and is expected to reopen in late-September. To learn more about Project Santa, visit wirpc.org/projectsanta/ or call WIRC at (309) 837-2997.
