A large animal rescue operations course will be held at the Bureau County Fairgrounds in Princeton on June 1, 2025, at 9 AM. This eight-hour training is specifically designed for fire, police, EMS, and related crews, focusing on the safe and effective rescue of large animals such as horses, cows, pigs, sheep, llamas, and alpacas. While all species are discussed, the main demonstrations will feature horses and cows. Participants will receive classroom instruction, practice haltering drills, learn rescue drag and glide methods, perform trailer safety inspections, and try their hands at simple vertical lifts—equipping them for animal emergencies in the field. Attendees are expected to leave with valuable knowledge to improve safety for both rescuers and animals.
