ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms are expected across the watch area tonight into Sunday morning. Very high rainfall rates of 2 inches or greater in a short time are possible, which could lead to flash flooding particularly in urban areas. In addition, with the potential for repeated rounds of storms, some locations could receive 2 to 4 inches of rain with locally higher amounts possible. With saturated soils from previous rainfall, these rainfall rates and rainfall amounts will lead to an increased risk for flash flooding.

LaSalle County Children to Benefit from Free Monthly Books Program

In an exciting development for young families in LaSalle County, the North Central Regional Betterment Coalition (NCRBC) has teamed up with the Dollywood Foundation to bring the Dolly Parton Imagination Library (DPIL) to the unserved parts of LaSalle County. This program will distribute free monthly books to children aged five and under, fostering a love for reading and aiding early childhood education. This initiative not only supports the educational development of young ones but also provides a significant resource for local families, helping to cultivate future generations of eager readers and learners right in their community.

“We have 3 objectives in providing Imagination Library to area families,” said NCRBC President J. Burt. “1) we want kids to have a better life, 2) that may, in time, reduce the need for mental health and homeless services, and 3) this may eventually improve the human talent pool for area employers.”

NCRBC has also assumed responsibility for an existing DPIL program in Bureau and Putnam counties. Since the rollout two months ago, over 900 area children have received Dolly Parton books.

“Providing these services does have an ongoing cost. We are asking those who are able to consider a donation in conjunction with ‘Giving Tuesday.’ The webpage, ncrbc.net, is equipped with a donation page, which will also be offered on links in various social media platforms.”

Enrollment information can be found at imaginationlibrary.com or NCRBC.net. For more information, contact J. Burt at 815-223-1222 or [email protected].
