In LaSalle County, a 25-year-old male died following an accident involving illegal fireworks. The incident occurred on July 5, 2024, around 12:26 AM, at 3073 East 12th Road. LaSalle County Sheriff’s Deputies, Utica Fire, and EMS responded to the scene. The victim, whose name has not been released, was transported to OSF St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The incident is under investigation by the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, the LaSalle County Coroner’s Office, and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
