The League of Women Voters of the Kewanee Area is hosting a public meeting to meet Dr. Jeremy Thomas, President of Black Hawk College East Campus, and learn more about the East Campus.  There will be a short presentation, and then the audience will be able to ask questions.  The meeting is on March 26, 2024, from 6 to 7:30 PM at the Kewanee Public Library.  Refreshments will be served.

Dr. Thomas came to Black Hawk College last year with more than twenty-five years of experience in higher education.  He has previously served at colleges and universities in Oklahoma, Texas, and Louisiana.  While at Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC), he transformed all areas of the college and increased student success.  The OCCC experienced its first surge in enrollment in more than five years and was one of just two colleges or universities in Oklahoma to see a year-over-year increase in enrollment amid the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020-2021.

Dr. Thomas supervises a talented and diverse group of faculty and staff on two campuses and three community outreach centers.  Dr. Thomas has been a keynote speaker and presenter at numerous state, national, and international conferences, and has presented to Oklahoma and Texas legislative bodies on numerous higher education issues.  He serves on several boards, committees, and civic organizations.

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan political organization, that encourages the active participation of citizens and government.  The League of Women Voters works to increase understanding of major public policy issues and influence public policy through education and advocacy.
