MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University football program announced that nine new student-athletes have been signed to the roster for the upcoming 2024-25 fall season.
It was a big day for Coach Davis, as his first recruiting class as head coach includes five offensive players and four on defense with players coming in from nine states including Arizona, Virginia, Texas, California, and Illinois.
The newly signed Leathernecks are:
- Avery Knight (RB, 6’0″,180 lbs., Freshman) – Hamilton High School, Chandler, AZ
- 2023 – 63 carries, 434 yards, 6.9 YPC, 11 touchdowns. 2 100+ yard games
- 2022 – 7 carries, 92 yards, 1 TD
- Matt Montgomery (OL, 6’5″, 315 lbs., Freshman) – Independence High School, Leesburg, VA
- 2023 – All District Team, Team Captain
- Nick Farris (OL, 6’7″, 280 lbs., Freshman) – Parish Episcopal High School, Dallas, TX
- Played LT for team that ran for 2351 rushing yards (180.1 per game) and 32 touchdowns.
- Jace Miller (DL, 6’3″, 275 lbs., Freshman) Franklin High School, Franklin, WI
- Two-star prospect. First-Team All-State, Conference Interior Linemen of the Year, All Region and Best Defensive Lineman in Wisconsin Finalist. Three-time All-Conference player and a two-time team captain.
- Cam Edwards (WR, 6’4″, 170 lbs., Freshman) Kentucky Country Day, Louisville, KY
- Courier Journal All-State Honorable Mention WR, PAC Athlete of the Year and First-Team All-District
- 49 receptions, 855 yards, 13 TD on offense. Recorded 4 INT on defense
- 4 receptions for 128 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in state quarterfinal game
- Elijah Kongolo (DL, 6’5″, 205 lbs., Freshman) Half Hollow Hills West High School, Dix Hills, NY
- 2023 – 84 tackles (58 solo), 30 TFL, 10 sacks. Named team captain and First Team All-Division
- Jordan Anderson (DB, 6’2″, 175 lbs., Freshman) Detroit Edison, Detroit, MI
- 2023 – 42 receptions, 941 yards, 11 TD on offense. 3 forced fumbles, 2 INT, 4 PD
- Two-star prospect. Named All-Conference, All-Region, and Michigan AP Division 5-6 All-State Team in 2023
- Holden Grieger (OL, 6’7″, 290 lbs., Freshman) Cosumnes Oaks High School, Cosumnes Oaks, CA
- Offense: 12 pancake blocks in 2 seasons
- Defense: 38 tackles, 2 sacks
- Two-star prospect, named to 64th Optimist All-Star Football Classic Team, All-Sacramento Football Third Team, All-Region selection
- Keon Collier (DB, 6’2″, 180, Freshman) Chicago Simeon High School/St. Thomas More Prep, Chicago, IL
- Safety for St. Thomas More Prep. Played high school football at Chicago Simeon.
