Lee County Sheriff’s Office Continues Homicide Investigation

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a homicide that occurred at 702 Richardson Avenue, Apartment A, in Ashton yesterday, October 15th.

At approximately 7:04 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Rochelle Police Department regarding a subject that walked into their lobby. The subject was a 17-year-old male that advised he was involved in a homicide. Rochelle Police took the information and provided an address in Ashton to Lee County Deputies. Lee County Deputies responded to the residence and conducted a welfare check.

The body of a 16-year-old female was located inside the apartment. Currently, the Sheriff’s Office is not releasing any further details about this incident pending further investigation and the notification of next of kin. The investigation appears to be related to domestic violence and the public is not at risk.

The Lee County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Lee County Juvenile Probation Department, the Rochelle Police Department, the Illinois State Police – Crime Scene Services and the Lee County Coroner’s Office have all been assisting with the investigation.

All charges are merely an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty
