The Bureau County 4-H Fair hosted its annual Master Showmanship Contest on Friday, July 11, 2025, testing participants’ abilities with beef, swine, and sheep. Contestants were evaluated on their showmanship and animal knowledge by judges, recognizing the top showman in each livestock category. Lydia Hardy took home the title of Bureau County Master Showman, earning a $100 gift card, a champion’s buckle, and the chance to represent the county at the Illinois State Fair Master Showmanship Contest on Friday, August 8th. Reserve champion Toby Behrends received a $50 gift card and will step in if Lydia is unable to compete at the State Fair.
“This event would not have been successful without the help of the livestock community. Thank you to the judge, Roger Carr, for donating his time, the owners of the livestock for allowing the use of their animals and the showmen for your patience and willingness to try new things!”
