MAC To Hold Improv Class Series

MACOMB, IL – The Macomb Arts Center (MAC) has announced that they’ll be offering an improv class series beginning March 24th.

Taught by WIU Theatre & Dance grad student Michael McNamara, this six-class series will be focused on building basic improvisational skills with short-form improv games in the style of Whose Line Is It Anyway?

Says McNamara, “Improvisation is an art form that has the potential to create a sense of community, develop teamwork, and encourage people to trust themselves.”

The class schedule will be:
Sunday, March 24, 5-6pm:  Improv basics
Sunday, March 31, 6-7pm:  Storytelling
Sunday, April 14, 5-6pm:  Character development
Sunday, April 21, 6-7pm:  Physicality & using the space
Sunday, April 28, 5-6pm:  Scenework
Saturday, May 4, 7-8pm:   Improv Jam

An free introductory meeting will be held at the MAC on Sunday, March 3rd from 5 to 6 pm,

Participants of all ages are welcome to attend any or all of the classes. There is a $5 per class fee. A discounted rate of $25 for all 6 classes is available if paid in advance or at the first class. Advance payments can be made online at macombartscenter.org/events, at the introductory meeting, or at the first class. There is no fee for the introductory meeting.
