Macomb FD Respond To Structure Fire On South Lafayette

MACOMB, IL – The Macomb Fire Department responded to a call of a structure fire in a single-family home early Wednesday afternoon.

According to reports, crews arrived at the home at 341 S. Lafayette St at 1:20 p.m. and found smoke emitting from the structure. Entry was made with crews making their way through the smoke, locating the fire in the rear laundry room. During a search of the premises, two dogs were found unharmed, and were shortly returned to their owner upon his arrival.

The fire would be deemed under control at 1:57 p.m., with no reported injuries. Damage assessments indicate that there was significant damage to the laundry room, as well as smoke damage throughout the home. The cause of the fire has been ruled unintentional and electrical in nature.
