UPDATE: Macomb Police Department has charged and arrested Donnell D. Williams, 23, of Macomb, with Armed Violence, a class X felony. When arrested, Williams was found to be in possession of over 1.5 pounds of cannabis, along with a firearm that bore no identifying marks. Williams was arrested, charged, and is currently lodged in the McDonough County Jail with bond set at $500,000 with 10% to apply. Preliminary hearings are set for April 12th
Williams has been linked to the crime scene and investigators are examining evidence and exploring every avenue.
This arrest was made after interviewing victims, collecting and processing evidence, examining video and photos, and studying data. A search warrant was conducted and more evidence was gathered for examination.
MPD has also released the name of the deceased: Jerman Beathea, 26, of Chicago. Beathea died at the scene as a result of gun shot wounds.
At this time, it is believed that victims that have been treated at area hospitals or trauma centers will recover.
MPD has reaffirmed that this is an on-going investigation of an isolated incident and many details will not be released to the public at this time so as to not compromise the investigation.
MACOMB, IL – A shooting occurred at a house party in Macomb early Saturday morning, leaving one dead and several injured.
According to a release issued by interim Police Chief Jeff Hamer, Macomb Police responded to a call of shots fired at a house party in the 500 block of North Johnson Street around 1:55 a.m.
Police said that the gunfire began after a fight broke out, leaving multiple people wounded and one was pronounced dead at the scene.
The injured were transported to McDonough District Hospital, which was locked down as a precautionary measure with the assistance of area law enforcement and hospital staff. Some of the injured were triaged at MDH before being transported to area hospitals.
According to the release issued by Hamer, this was an isolated incident and there doesn’t appear to be a threat to public at this time.
