MACOMB, IL – A Macomb man was arrested on Wednesday in connection to two Macomb Police squad cars that had had their tires flattened.
According to reports, Macomb Police officers discovered early Wednesday morning that two squad cards parked in the MPD parking lot had flat tires. On closer inspection, it was found that the valve stem caps and cores had been removed which allowed the air to escape from the tires, flattening them.
Officers reviewed video cameras located on the back of the building and were able to locate and observe a suspect walk up to both squad cars and flatten the tires. The suspect was tracked southbound on South Johnson St and later into an apartment building on West Piper Street. They identified the suspect as Mark A. Wiltermood, of Macomb.
Wiltermood was interviewed at his apartment before being arrested and charged with Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor. Wiltermood was taken to McDonough County Jail where he was lodged.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
