    Peak afternoon heat indices between 100 to 105 degrees expected.
    WHERE
    Portions of north central, northwest, and west central Illinois, east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.

    Until 8 PM CDT Monday.
    IMPACTS
    Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Heat impacts will be worsened by several consecutive days of sweltering temperatures. Additionally, there will be little relief overnight with near record warm lows forecast in the mid to upper 70s.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Macomb Student Receives FOP Scholarship

MACOMB, IL – The Spoon River Valley Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge 427 has announced that Lindsey May, the son of Lindsey and Karen May of Macomb, has been named the recipient of the 2023 $500 FOP Scholarship.

Lindsey is a freshman at Western Illinois University majoring in Criminal Justice and has enlisted in the Illinois Air National Guard 182nd Air Life Wing, based in Peoria as a Loadmaster for C-130 cargo planes. He will enter basic training at a later date. His father is a Lodge 427 member who is currently employed by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

Every year each FOP district selects an award recipient for a $500 scholarship for a selected FOP member’s family.
