Manhunt Continues as Suspect Arrested in Galesburg Shooting Case on July 6th

In Galesburg, police have arrested Gregory O. Wallace in connection with a July 6, 2024, shooting on Cherry Street. The victim, Mario D. Washington, survived and is recovering. Wallace, captured in Chicago, is now in Knox County Jail facing attempted murder charges. A second suspect, James M. Wilson, remains at large with an active warrant for his arrest.

The Galesburg Police Department, with assistance from the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, Knox County State’s Attorney, Illinois State Police, Illinois Secretary of State Police, and the FBI TOC West Task Force, identified two suspects involved in the shooting. This resulted in attempted murder arrest warrants being issued for Gregory O. Wallace, age 39, and James M. Wilson, age 43.

“Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Wilson are urged to contact their local Law Enforcement Agency or Local Crime Stoppers.”
