A Manlius man was facing a trial for his pending cases but accepted a plea agreement during his final pretrial with Judge Patton on August 26, 2024. Kaler Deakin pleaded guilty to violating his bond conditions and was sentenced to 12 months of probation, 180 days in the Henry County Jail, a $750 fine, assessments, he must seek alcohol, substance, and mental health evaluations, and recommended treatments. A status hearing is scheduled for October 15, 2024, at 9 AM. The hearing will address the petition to revoke probation on a separate case and his progress with the condition of his plea deal. If he is compliant, the state will dismiss the petition to revoke. His jail sentence is stayed pending compliance with the agreement.
On December 5, 2022, Henry County Deputies were dispatched home in rural Henry County for a 911 hangup call. Dispatchers attempted to call the number but there was no answer. On arrival, Deputies found the defendant in the home with a no-contact order against him. His wife was at the hearing and confirmed to the judge that she wanted the domestic battery charges dismissed. All charges were dismissed as part of the plea deal.
Deakin was originally charged with two (2) counts of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon/Vehicle (Class 4 Felony), two (2) counts of Possession of a Firearm (Class 4 Felony), Violation of Bail Bond (Class A Misdemeanor), Violation of Pretrial Release (Class A Misdemeanor) and Transportation of Alcohol (Class P Other).
