A high-speed chase unfolded early Sunday morning on Interstate 74 in Henry County. Authorities report that just after 3:30 AM, a deputy clocked a car traveling 149 miles per hour—more than double the posted 70 MPH limit. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Brenden A. Ballard of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, ignored the attempted traffic stop and led law enforcement on a pursuit that ended in neighboring Knox County. The Knox County Sheriff’s Department was able to apprehend Ballard without incident. He was transported to the Henry County Jail and faces charges of misdemeanor speeding and reckless driving. Captain Ben Franklin said on a Henry County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post, “We would like to thank the Knox County Sheriff’s Department and all assisting agencies for their quick response and cooperation.”
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
