McCowan Earns Her 14th OVC Weekly Award

MACOMB, IL – Leatherneck freshman guard Raegan McCowan has been named Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for the sixth consecutive week, the league announced on Tuesday morning. The honor is McCowan’s 11th Freshman of the Week.

Raegan averaged a double-double for the second straight week with 14.5 points and 10.0 rebounds. She started the week with her fourth double-double in a row as she scored 14 points and brought down 11 rebounds. McCowan then posted double-digit points for the 22nd time this season as she scored 15 and grabbed nine rebounds in a ten-point win against UT Martin. McCowan also dished out three assists on the week.

The award is Western Illinois 15th Ohio Valley Weekly Award. McCowan previously earned Freshman of the Week on Nov. 14, Nov. 21, Dec. 5, Dec. 12, Dec. 27, Jan. 9, Jan. 16, Jan. 24, Jan. 30, Feb. 6, and Feb. 13 while earning Player of the Week on Nov. 14, Jan. 24, and Feb. 6. Junior Jasmine Nichols was named Newcomer of the Week on Nov. 21.

Western Illinois is set for their final road trip of the season as they head to Tennessee for games against Tennessee Tech and Tennessee State.
