MCDONOUGH COUNTY, IL. – McDonough County Emergency Services and Disaster Agency, in partnership with the City of Macomb, Western Illinois University, and Community partners will be opening warming centers for the community to use. Through frigid winter temperatures, it is imperative to raise awareness among community members needing a place to go to escape the cold.
The warming center will be open from Dec. 22nd to Dec. 26th at WIU Corbin Olson Hall, 420 N. Western Ave. from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, Macomb, City Hall 232 E. Jackson St., from 8:00 to 5:00 pm today and Friday. Also, the Macomb Amtrak Station at 120 E. Calhoun St. from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm.
Retail Partners such as Walmart and Hy-Vee are also available during business hours.
Anyone staying in the warming center is highly encouraged to follow social distancing and if possible, mask-wearing is recommended to minimize the spread of the Flu, RSV, or COVID-19.
