Honoring those who have served, a Memorial Day service will take place Monday, May 26, 2025, at 11 AM at Veterans Park in Kewanee. The ceremony features musical selections by the Kewanee High School Band under Alex Binek’s direction. Jerry Thompson will serve as master of ceremonies, with prayer led by Lou VanDe Voorde and the Pledge of Allegiance recited by all. POW-MIA recognition will be conducted by Ted Canellos. Mayor Gary Moore will speak, followed by introductions of local veterans’ organizations and auxiliary representatives. The service concludes with taps played by John Blake, honoring the fallen.
Jerry Thompson said they are meeting at 8 AM on Friday, May 23rd, to place flags in Pleasantview Cemetery.
