MACOMB, IL – Macomb firefighters were dispatched to a call of a structure fire at a home on W Woodbury Street late Tuesday evening.
According to a release issued by Macomb Fire Chief Dan Meyer, the initial dispatch at 9:39 p.m. indicated that an occupant believed that the gas line was on fire. Units arrived on-site at 9:42 and learned that the homeowner had shut the gas off at the meter.
The fire was located in the kitchen and began their attack around the stove. A search of the building for hot spots was conducted, and the fire was declared under control at 10:15 p.m.
The structure sustained fire, smoke, and water damage throughout and has an estimated loss of $20,000. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
The fire is believed to be unintentional and remains under investigation by the Macomb Fire Department.
