Mother and Son Team Charged with Stealing from the Kewanee Park District

After a months-long investigation, a mother and son duo are charged with stealing from the Kewanee Parks District.  A few months back, a source told RegionalMediaNews that an investigation was started regarding thefts from the Kewanee Parks District by Jacob Boss and his mother, Barbara Boss.  Jacob Boss, 38, of Kewanee was officially charged with a Class 2 Felony for Theft of less than $500 on October 31, 2023.  Jacob Boss waived his Preliminary Hearing and Formal Arraignment on December 18, 2023, and has a Jury Pre-Trial scheduled for January 18, 2024, at 9 AM.  We reached out to Deputy Chief Michael Minx on December 1, 2023, because charges for Jacob’s mother were not on the docket.  Deputy Chief Minx confirmed the charges were for thefts from the Kewanee Park District and that charges against Barbara Boss were delayed because Assistant State’s Attorney Owens had questions regarding the investigation.  Barbara Boss, 61, of Kewanee was officially charged with a Class 4 Felony for Theft of less than $500 on December 14, 2023.  Barbara Boss has a First Appearance hearing on January 8, 2024, at 1 PM.

Kewanee Park District Director, Andy Dwyer, said the Kewanee Park District has no comment at this time when asked for details about the thefts.  We will keep you updated through the judicial process.
