A Kewanee man is recovering after a hit-and-run incident on June 26, 2025. Authorities say 29-year-old Matthew Wood was struck while riding his motorcycle at the intersection of Lake and Lakeview Streets. The driver, identified as 67-year-old Larry Alexander, left the scene but was later located by police. Alexander faces charges including Driving Under the Influence (Class A Misdemeanor), Reckless Driving (Class A Misdemeanor), and Failure to Stop at an Intersection (Class P Other). He was given a notice to appear and is scheduled for his first court appearance on August 1, 2025. Wood was taken to OSF St. Luke Medical Center for treatment following the crash.
