A two-vehicle accident north of Galva yesterday on the Galva-Atkinson Blacktop (County Highway 5) left multiple people injured and one person dead. Around 3:15 PM on August 16th, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident involving two vehicles on County Highway 5 and 500 North. Deputies arrived to find multiple occupants from each vehicle that needed medical assistance. According to scanner traffic, one person was trapped in one of the vehicles. LifeFlight was dispatched to transport one critically injured patient to Peoria; they were later pronounced deceased at OSF St. Francis in Peoria.
The occupants of both vehicles were transported to local hospitals; their conditions are unknown. Additional details will be released at a later date.
Galva Police & Fire Departments, Stark County Ambulance Service, Life Light Medical Services, Bishop Hill Fire Department, and Kewanee Fire Department Ambulance responded to the scene to assist.
