Educators across the region are celebrating the recent nomination of Alicia Conner for the Those Who Excel and Teacher of the Year Awards. Colleagues and students alike recognize her dedication, both in the classroom and as a school leader. Alicia’s teaching style, marked by genuine relationships and an inspiring approach, has consistently motivated students to reach their full potential. Community members recall her own days as a Neponset Grade School student, making her achievements even more meaningful. This recognition stands as a testament to Alicia Conner’s lasting impact on the school community and her unwavering commitment to student success.
Neponset School Principal Dena Hodge-Bates said, “Being nominated for the Those Who Excel and Teacher of the Year Awards means the world to a teacher. A teacher’s main goals are to develop relationships with their students and inspire them to be the best version of themselves. Teachers build close relationships with their colleagues and inspire each other to try new strategies to ensure students are successful. Being nominated by students, families, and colleagues provides recognition that you are fulfilling your goals. It is truly humbling to be nominated. Having had Alicia Conner as a student myself at Neponset Grade School 26 years ago and having her come back and teach for me is also humbling. I am so proud of the teacher and leader she is, and she is truly deserving of this nomination.”
