Olivia Shike of Sadorus has been elected as the new student trustee on the Black Hawk College Board of Trustees. Shike, a first-year student at the East Campus, began her term on April 24, 2025, and will represent students until April 2026. “I (am) honored to represent my peers and ensure that their voices are heard,” she said.
She was chosen by fellow students and brings extensive experience in leadership and public speaking, along with active participation in the college’s award-winning Livestock Judging Team. Shike also holds titles such as 2024 Miss Champaign County Fair Queen and the 2025 Emerging Farm Leader of the Year. She aims to advocate for students and the agriculture industry.
Active in the Black Hawk College Honors Program and a member of the Agribusiness Club, Shike is pursuing an Associate of Arts degree. After graduation, she plans to transfer to a four-year university to further study agribusiness and policy, with long-term goals of advocating for the agriculture industry.
