A young Peoria mother credits OSF OnCall digital health services with helping her manage the daily challenges of motherhood, school, and high-risk pregnancies. Mahogany ThomasVenney, 21, describes OSF OnCall as an invaluable source of support, assisting with everything from emotional well-being to childcare and transportation. Her connection with OSF OnCall began when she was a pregnant teen and has grown to include the new mobile care van, which delivers prenatal and postpartum medical care directly to her home. ThomasVenney said, “It’s really like they’ve just been an extra family for me, like, you know, everything I needed, especially with support, just mentally, physically, they’ve been there.” A new addition, the OSF OnCall mobile care van, brings prenatal and postpartum care directly to families’ doorsteps, offering services such as ultrasounds and blood pressure checks.
ThomasVenney said, “The coolest part to me was the sonogram. I got a sonogram off of here. That is amazing to me. It’s a doctor’s office literally just with wheels. So, yes, everything is the same, it’s the same as the doctor’s but it’s more convenient for the ones who can’t get to the doctors.” This resource is available to women on Medicaid across several area counties, bringing healthcare access to communities with fewer OB/GYN providers.
“Do not be hesitant or scared to ask for help. I wish I would have asked for help so much sooner than when I did because there are genuine people that will love you so much – you and yours.” She added, “Get the help that you feel you need and do better for you. Do better for you because life is short. You only get one life
The OSF OnCall mobile care van service, coupled with digital health support, is accessible for women on Medicaid across several Illinois counties, including Bureau, Henry, Knox, LaSalle, Marshall, Stark, Tazewell, Livingston, Peoria, Putnam, Woodford, and Warren. This initiative steps in to address healthcare gaps, particularly for OB/GYN services, which have seen significant reductions in the Illinois River Valley region.
