Ottawa is set to sparkle this holiday season with its 37th Annual Festival of Lights Parade on November 29, 2024. Beginning at 6 PM along LaSalle Street, the event promises a radiant showcase of floats, music, and a sea of lights, encapsulating the city’s vibrant holiday spirit. This year, Daniel Thomas from the Illinois Office of Tourism will lead as Grand Marshal. Post-parade festivities include a performance by Shepherd Junior High Choir and a fireworks display at Jordan Block, where the community will gather for the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree by Santa and Mrs. Claus. The Chris Kringle Market also returns, offering unique crafts and treats, making downtown Ottawa a must-visit this holiday season.
“We are thrilled to welcome Daniel as this year’s Grand Marshal,” said Rich Crum, Event Coordinator for the Festival of Lights. “Daniel’s dedication to promoting tourism across Illinois aligns perfectly with the heart of this event, which not only brings holiday joy to our community but also highlights the charm and appeal of Ottawa as a holiday destination.”
“The Festival of Lights has become a hallmark event for Ottawa, one that brings our community together and draws visitors from near and far,” Crum continued. “Each year, families come back to make memories, and it’s a tradition that captures the very best of our holiday spirit.”
