Starting Monday, residents of Galesburg will need to plan for some added commute time. Between Mary and Fremont Street, North Academy Street is set for a temporary closure due to a sanitary sewer replacement project. The closure is scheduled from 7 a.m. on June 3, 2024, to 3 p.m. on June 7, 2024. Although the road will remain open to local traffic, and efforts will be made to keep the northbound lane accessible when crews are not actively working, travelers should anticipate possible delays and may want to seek alternative routes. This infrastructure upgrade aims to enhance the community’s sanitary systems.
