Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood has identified a Peoria woman as the fatality in the two-vehicle accident on County Highway 5 and 500 North in rural Galva. Cassie Boorn was 37 years old when she passed away at 7:55 PM from multiple blunt-force trauma injuries from an automobile accident around 3:15 PM. Cassie Boorn was the vehicle’s driver, and the accident remains under investigation by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
According to her obituary, “Cassie lived her life with a vibrancy and fearlessness. She lived boldly, laughed loudly, and always carved her own path.
Cassie graduated from Galva High School in 2005 and received a BA in Philosophy from Saint Ambrose University in 2010. Cassie’s greatest joy was her son, Aiden Joseph Boorn, of Dunlap, together with Brad (Jessi) Peck. Cassie poured all her love and energy into motherhood with the same enthusiasm that defined her life. Cassie also found family in her special friend, Adrienne, and her son, Quinton Veasley, whom she treated as her own. Her boys were the light of her world, and she loved them fiercely. A loyal and constant companion of Cassie’s was her part-lab pitbull, Harlem Nights.
Cassie was as sharp as she was spirited. Her passion for social media and marketing led her to create a mom’s blog, sharing her journey of motherhood—a venture that quickly blossomed into a thriving career. She became a trailblazer and developed innovative social media strategies for well-known brands like Samuel Adams, Pond’s Cold Cream, and Bounce.”
On Wednesday, August 21st, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Galva. On Tuesday, August 20th, at 5 PM, a rosary will be recited, followed by a Wake Service at 5:30 PM, and then a visitation vigil from 6 to 8 PM at the church. In place of flowers, memorials may be directed to an educational fund for Aiden Boorn through the State Bank of Toulon.
