On May 13th, the Kewanee City Council is set to vote on a special use permit request to allow HVN Capital LLC to open a cannabis dispensary in the old Broken Chimney at 618 Tenney Street. The planning commission voted six to one in favor of the dispensary on April 24th. HVN Capital doesn’t plan to stop at just selling marijuana but grow it as well. Plans have been in motion to build a cannabis-growing facility at the industrial park on Kentville Road. The Planning Commission will vote on the special use permit request by HVN Capital to build a Craft Grow Facility at the May 22nd meeting, and then the Kewanee City Council will vote on it at the May 27th meeting. Also at the May 22nd Planning Commission meeting, PhatBoys BBQ is seeking approval for a beer garden at their soon-to-be restaurant, previously The Station restaurant.
