Authorities in Henry County are investigating after a body was discovered in a rural area west of Kewanee on May 30, 2025. Local law enforcement, including the Kewanee Police Department, Henry County Sheriff’s Office, and Illinois State Police, had been searching the area when a resident began checking nearby properties, which they had access to search. The concerned citizen found the body and quickly alerted officers, who then responded and confirmed the discovery. The Illinois State Police processed the scene. Due to the condition of the body, identification is pending as an autopsy is scheduled for early next week in Peoria. Further information will be released as it becomes available and appropriate to share.
