In Bureau County, the Princeton Junior Woman’s Club is once again gearing up for its annual Safety Town program, set to run from June 3rd to June 14th, 2024, at Douglas School in Princeton, IL. This invaluable initiative, taught by Certified Teacher Erica Lenihan and Officer Alex Jaramillo, is designed for local children aged 4 and 5. Officer Alex Jaramillo, also known as “Officer Friendly,”  is the school resource officer for the Princeton Police Department. Through a mix of classroom lessons and practical outdoor safety exercises, participants will learn everything from pedestrian safety to emergency response skills. With limited slots available, parents are urged to register their children by May 4, 2024. The program not only educates young minds but also involves community high school students as volunteers, offering them a chance to earn service hours. For more details or to volunteer, reach out to PJWC via their Facebook page or email at [email protected].

To register students and volunteers for Safety Town, applications are accepted by mail (the mailing address is on the form), with applications postmarked by May 3, 2024, or emailed to [email protected] by May 4, 2024. Registration and Volunteer forms can be printed online via the Princeton Junior Woman’s Club Facebook Page or requested electronically from PJWC. Electronic Venmo payments will be accepted. May 4th is the very last date we can accept registrations. Safety Town has a very limited number of student spots.
