    The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.

    Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

Alleged Car Thief Dies in Crash of Stolen Vehicle in LaSalle County

In LaSalle County, a high-speed chase ended tragically early this morning when a vehicle, reported stolen, crashed after a deputy attempted a traffic stop. The incident occurred around 06:42 a.m., leading to a rapid response from local authorities who discovered the driver, who was the only person in the car, had been ejected upon impact. Despite immediate aid rendered by deputies, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The LaSalle County Sheriff has called upon the Illinois State Police to lead the investigation into the crash. Authorities are currently working to notify the relatives of the deceased and are urging anyone with information to contact Illinois State Police Troop 2.
