The Princeton Theater Group is hosting a free screening of Common Creatives on August 11, 2023, at 7:30 PM at the Grace Performing Center (home of Festival 56). Creative Commons is an independent film from Director Reid Tomassom that began filming in June of 2022 and wrapped in August of 2022, with filming taking place primarily in LaSalle and Ottawa. Admission is free but donations will be accepted to fund future projects.
Common Creatives is a 90 minute mockumentary centered on the theater program at a community college. Leonard Shaw, the newly appointed artistic director of the school, is given the difficult task of putting on a big-name show with a budget of zero. With the help of his colorful cast of students, and some copyright loopholes, Leonard may just be able to pull off the most ambitious show the school has ever seen. The film stars Kim “Howard” Johnson, and features other local performers, including Kevin J. Alleman, Serena Rogers, Isaac Alvarado, Trisha Bagby, and Bob Philip.
Reid Tomasson is a recent graduate of Columbia College with a BA in film and television and has appeared in or directed shows on many local stages. A Festival 56 alum Reid most recently served as the co-director of Camp 56. He is planning pursuing a career in casting and film.
