A motorist traveling on Interstate 80 was robbed at gunpoint in Peru while getting gas at the Mobil Gas Station. On March 21, 2023, around 10:50 PM, Peru Police responded to a reported armed robbery at a gas station on May Road. According to the Peru Police Department, a motorist was traveling on I-80 when they exited on Illinois Route 251 for fuel and was robbed at gunpoint by male dressed in a dark colored hoodie while wearing a full-face mask. The offender is described as being average height and build.
According to the press release, Peru Police said it’s possible the offender left in a getaway vehicle parked nearby; However, Peru Police with assistance from LaSalle Police canvassed the area on foot with a Peru Police K-9 out of an abundance of caution. The Peru Fire Department Drone team assisted in the search as well
