Second Story Teen Center 2023 Scholarship Recipients

Second Story Teen Center is a nonprofit organization that offers young people in grades 6-12 in Bureau County a sense of purpose and acceptance by providing an atmosphere of companionship and encouraging conversation. “We want to cultivate and nurture the full potential of our younger generations through education mentorship and support.” The Second Story Teen Center awarded scholarships to two high school or GED graduating students who regularly attend Second Story.

Kaylee Dowda will major in early childhood education and minor in special education at Olivet Nazarene University. Brennon Mills will attend Illinois Valley Community College majoring in art.

In October 2017, a food and teen clothing pantry was opened in response to the number of low-income youth that came through the doors and whose families were struggling to make ends meet. “We encourage you to come see our facility and the good work our volunteers are doing to provide quality programs to our area youth.” Second Story is open Tuesday 4-8 PM and Friday 6:30-11 PM.
