BNSF Railway is replacing the railroad tracks crossing at U.S. Highway 34 and Illinois Highway 17 beginning August 19, 2024, in Galva. A detour is in place using SE First Avenue, Chester Street, and Front Street. A detour will be posted, and the railroad crossing is expected to be open by September 2nd.
Motorists should allow extra time when driving through the area and consider using alternate routes. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, and do not use mobile devices.
