Residents Invited to Share Feedback on US Route 150 Reconstruction Plans in Galesburg on November 20, 2025

Area residents have an opportunity to weigh in on major reconstruction plans for U.S. Route 150 in Galesburg. The Illinois Department of Transportation will host an open house public meeting on Thursday, November 20th, from 5 to 7 PM at King Elementary School Gymnasium. Attendees can review project exhibits and speak directly with IDOT staff about proposals for new pavement, curbs, sidewalks, shared-use paths, and intersection improvements. During reconstruction, Grand Avenue is expected to close temporarily to westbound traffic. Public input is invited—comments accepted at the meeting, by mail, or email through December 5th.

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has scheduled an open house public meeting for the purpose of providing information and receiving input on the proposed improvement of U.S. Route 150 (Main St.) from Allens Ave. to Grand Ave. and of U.S. Route 150 (Grand Ave.) from Main St. to Logistics Parkway/Knox County Highway 32 in Galesburg.

All interested persons are invited to attend and participate. Project exhibits will be available for review. In addition, IDOT staff members will be available to receive input, provide information, and answer questions. No formal presentation will be given.

Proposed improvements include:

  • Reconstruction of the roadway with new pavement, curb and gutter, and storm sewer
  • Sidewalks
  • Shared-use paths
  • Intersection improvements
  • It is proposed to temporarily close Grand Ave. to westbound traffic during reconstruction of the roadway to reduce construction duration and cost.

The public is encouraged to submit comments. Comments can be submitted at the meeting, mailed to the address listed below, or submitted electronically to the email address listed below. Comments received by December 5, 2025, will become part of the public meeting record.
