Mayor Gary Moore announced an update from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) regarding roadwork on North Main Street. IDOT plans to work on North Main Street from the railroad tracks to East 10th Street. The original plan would have stopped at East 7th or 8th Streets. The bid letting is on September 21, 2024, and work on the highway could begin within a few weeks from September 21st.
Highway 81 (West 6th Street) remains on the road plan for the IDOT, but there isn’t a timetable for the work at this time. The State of Illinois continues to work on right-of-ways and legalities before the work could commence.
Mayor Moore said “As soon as I receive any information concerning this project from IDOT, I will pass it along.”
